A 12-member delegation of Indian opposition parties has arrived at Srinagar airport to meet political leaders in Indian-administered Kashmir under the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and to unite with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Shakeel Akhtar, BBC correspondent from Delhi, spoke on the BBC's special radio program Half Day, saying that according to information received, a delegation of 12 leaders of opposition parties is going to Srinagar and it will be a while now. For the first time, he flew from Delhi airport to Srinagar.
According to him, the opposition leaders have visited Srinagar to meet the detained political leaders and express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to BBC reporters in Srinagar, media representatives were stopped one km away from the airport. Leaders are not allowed to leave the airport and are being sent back.
However, it is not currently clear which flight they will be repatriated from. Representatives of the media accompanying the delegation were evacuated from the airport.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad announced that they would visit Srinagar to meet the detained political leaders and express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Opposition parties on Thursday protested against the arrest of political leaders outside the parliament. He demanded that political leaders and thousands of arrested youth be released immediately.
