Rahul Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi arrive at Srinagar airport

A 12-member delegation of Indian opposition parties has arrived at Srinagar airport to meet political leaders in Indian-administered Kashmir under the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and to unite with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shakeel Akhtar, BBC correspondent from Delhi, spoke on the BBC's special radio program Half Day, saying that according to information received, a delegation of 12 leaders of opposition parties is going to Srinagar and it will be a while now. For the first time, he flew from Delhi airport to Srinagar.

According to him, the opposition leaders have visited Srinagar to meet the detained political leaders and express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to BBC reporters in Srinagar, media representatives were stopped one km away from the airport. Leaders are not allowed to leave the airport and are being sent back.

However, it is not currently clear which flight they will be repatriated from. Representatives of the media accompanying the delegation were evacuated from the airport.

On the other hand, a BBC correspondent in Srinagar, the capital of India-administered Kashmir, said that an advisory had been issued by the Public Relations Department of the government on the night of August 23, saying that the opposition leaders had Should not visit in time when Section 144 is in force here.

He said the Indian government's release stated that the coming of opposition leaders could violate Section 144.

The BBC correspondent said that it is likely that the opposition delegation coming from Delhi will be stopped at Srinagar Airport. Earlier, senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has been sent back to Delhi from Srinagar and Jammu airport twice.

Giving details about detained political leaders, the BBC correspondent said that according to a government order, three places were converted into sub-jails, including former chief minister Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti. And some congressional leaders have been hired.

According to information received August 23, Omar Abdullah had complained about the facilities after which the Divisional Commissioner Bashir Khan met with a delegation of officers and assured them.
He said the restrictions imposed on Friday's Friday prayer meeting in the Indian-administered Kashmir capital Srinagar have eased some on Saturday. However, business and educational activities are constantly closed.

He said it has become a routine practice by the Indian government that sanctions are tightened when it is a Friday or a big day, but sanctions are eased the next day. In addition to specific areas of the city, there is private traffic on the roads.

However, two things are strictly practiced. Communication systems including internet and phone are off and the other case is arrest. No statistics are provided for the arrests.

The BBC correspondent said there was no police station in the area where the parents had gathered to release their children.

Thousands of youths have been arrested according to careful and unofficial estimates, he said. But police say they have arrested only the youths who used to obstruct the roads, disrupt peace, and throw stones at private or security forces vehicles.
It is understood that there were violent clashes between the demonstrators and security forces during the Friday prayers in Sora area of   Srinagar, the capital of Indian-administered Kashmir.

Congress leader Manis Tewari told a press conference August 23 that if the situation in Kashmir was OK then why the government would not restore communication and eliminate the lockdown.

Opposition parties on Thursday protested against the arrest of political leaders outside the parliament. He demanded that political leaders and thousands of arrested youth be released immediately.
