Staying Healthy Even While Sitting All Day Long, Office Workers Must Follow These 4 Tips

Office workers generally spend most of their time sitting staring at a computer screen. Even though it looks relaxed, sitting all day can cause health problems. In fact, office people must always be healthy and fit in order to work well. Check out tips on staying healthy even after sitting all day in the following office.

Tips to stay healthy even though sitting in the office all day
Being active is part of a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, most office workers spend their time sitting quietly behind office desks.

In fact, sitting too long can increase the risk of various health problems, ranging from hemorrhoid, neck muscle pain, back and waist pain, and obesity (overweight).

So, what do office workers need to do to avoid these health problems? Of course, by outsmarting the body to stay active.

1. Do a simple stretch

Sitting all day does not mean you can not move actively. Actually, you can take the time to do simple stretches even while sitting.

Stretching movements can help reduce pressure, stress, as well as tension in the muscles of the body, so you avoid muscle pain.

Here are some recommendations for stretching that you can do in the office to stay healthy.

Leg extension
Sit up straight in your chair. Then lift one leg straight forward. Hold for three counts and repeat for the other leg. Do as many as 3 sets with 10 repetitions in each leg.

Arm circles
Stay seated in an upright position. Spread your arms to the side, forming the letter T. Turn your shoulders forwards for 20 turns and back with the same amount. Repeat the movement 2 to 3 times to prevent neck pain. That way you will stay fit and healthy while in the office.

Seated press up
Do this stretch on a chair that has no wheels to be safer. Sit straight up with your feet on the floor. Place your hands beside your body touching the grip.

By leaning on your hands and feet, lift your body so that your buttocks float slightly on the bench. Hold your body over for a count of 3, then return your buttocks to the chair. Do 10 repetitions.

2. Choose to drink using a cup

To stay healthy even if you only sit all day in the office, choose to drink in a cup or glass rather than in a bottle. Why?

Using a drinking bottle does make it easier for you to drink more. Unfortunately, this can also eliminate your chance to actively move.

Using a cup or glass allows you to get up, stand up, and walk from your seat to refill the cup with water. Although it looks trivial, this action can make your body stay active even though your work is spent sitting a lot.

3. Bring provisions but do not eat at the work table
The next way to stay healthy at the office is to bring lunch from home. Homemade supplies are guaranteed more cleanliness and nutrition compared to buying them on the roadside.

However, to be healthier, you should not eat on the work table. Choose to eat outside the office room, which allows your body to move and burn calories.

In addition to not littering the table, eating elsewhere also prevents concentration when eating diverted to work. That way, you can eat in peace, without having to check this and that work.

4. Pay attention to the sitting position, keyboard location, and monitor of your computer
The wrong sitting position, keyboard location, and computer screen can cause muscle problems and poor posture. So, to stay healthy, posture when sitting in the office must also be considered.

Don't sit with your body leaning forward, back, or to the side.

So you can sit upright comfortably, position your keyboard, monitor and mouse in the right location. Make sure the monitor is not far away so that your eyes stay comfortable without squinting when looking at the screen.

Place the mouse in an area easily accessible to your hands. Place the keyboard as comfortable as possible with your hands.
